ALERT - Fake Drake Email Requesting Your EFIN

FYI - For those of you who are Drake users
For those of you who are Drake Users, a heads up that a tax pro received 2 emails yesterday telling them that their EFIN was unverified and they needed to fax a copy of the IRS EFIN acceptance letter. When they looked at the sender address, it was their email address rather than coming from Drake. They called Drake and they confirmed they did not send out these emails, and they do not have fax machines.

For those of you who don't use Drake, you also need to be vigilant. If they are targeting one software vendor, others are not far behind – if they haven't already done it. Sounds like they're looking for EFIN numbers so they can file fraudulent tax returns.
